Dialogues on the social dimensions of dance

PODIUM: MUTIGE SCHRITTE

Following an opening talk by Katarzyna Wielga-Skolimowska, Artistic Director of the German Federal Cultural Foundation, and Dr Carsten Brosda, Hamburg’s Senator for Culture and Media, cultural decision-makers from the federal, state and local levels will engage in discussion with experts from the dance scene. Three moderated dialogues will explore the social impact of dance and provide insights into working practices: from engaging with young people and visibility and structure in rural areas to ballet companies in urban society.

A concluding panel discussion with all the panellists will pick up on aspects from the previous dialogues and look ahead to the future prospects of dance.

Dialogues:

Nancy Faeser, Member of the German Bundestag, Member of the Bundestag’s Culture Committee & Simone Schulte-Aladağ, Artistic Director of Fokus Tanz, Munich

Katerina Schumacher, Head of the Culture Department, Ministry of Science, Culture, Federal and European Affairs of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania & Dr Elisabeth Nehring, Head of the Dance Department, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Stralsund

Prof. Dr Julia Lehner, former Deputy Mayor and Cultural Affairs Officer of the City of Nuremberg & Richard Siegal, Artistic Director of the Nuremberg State Theatre Ballet of Difference

Moderator: Katja Bigalke (journalist and presenter)
