Training Intensive

Patricia Carolin Mai

KONTROL THE MORNING

Attention! 2G event (vaccinated/recovered)!
Due to Covid-19, we cannot offer open classes for professional dancers at the moment. Therefore we offer intensive courses with a limited number of participants. These courses last 3 days each and take place Monday to Wednesday from 10:30am - 12:30pm. A ticket (15€) allows you to participate on all 3 days. Single classes cannot be attended. A registration with a short CV at tanzplan2@kampnagel.de is absolutely necessary. You will receive a link to buy a ticket.

KONTROL THE MORNING focuses on the constant interaction between tension and relaxation. With influences from contact improvisation, shiatsu, strength training and martial arts, Patricia Carolin Mai develops a sweaty practice that particularly strengthens the body's core. She also works on the dance potential that can lie in the transitions from one physical state to the next - in the elusive moment of the in-between.

50% Exercise in the centre and on the barre
35% Dancing combinations in the centre and through the space

Patricia Carolin Mai

Patricia Carolin Mai is a dancer, choreographer and artistic director of MAI:COMPANY. She studied dance at the Royal Conservatoire of Antwerp and performance studies at the University of Hamburg. Since 2015, she has been producing dance pieces with production bases at Kampnagel and K3 | Tanzplan Hamburg. Her artistic work explores movement as a somatic and empowering practice, and the body in various states and extremes, often within intergenerational and participatory contexts. Her productions have been staged internationally, including in Belgium, France, Italy, Israel and Korea. Since 2019, she has been conducting research on soft skills in dance education as part of the EU project ‘Empowering Dance’ and works as a lecturer and mentor both in Germany and abroad. In 2025, she founded MAI:COMPANY – Hamburg’s first cross-generational dance company comprising people from the city. From 2026 to 2028, as part of the Tanzpakt Stadt-Land-Bund initiative, she is further developing her work on community, participation and physical diversity.
