Maria Zimpel
WATERDANCES / YES POEMS
In the summer of 2021 - after long walks through the Engadine Alps and movement research in a Hamburg studio on the river Bille - Maria Zimpel films Waterdances / Yes Poems together with Claudio von Planta. Together they explore her idea of the body as a transmitter and the ecofeminist idea of the embodied nature. Nature is not separated from us but rather a dynamic force rewilding the body from within. Through Mobilising the sensuous body they search for the patterns and qualities that organise both the movements of the dancing body and of the natural surfaces. The boundaries between one and the other are watery. The choreography moves between real and imagined landscapes, explores geological surfaces and investigates the poetics of water. The film tells a non-linear story of an encounter of the body with natural landscapes
The filmpremiere will be shown following Probebühne Eins. The ticket is valid for both events.

Maria Zimpel
Maria Zimpel choreographer, dance artist. In her work she is exploring the limits of physically. She is creating her own dance language and modular choreographic structures based on semi-repetitive movement patterns and embodied attention in movement. She is an author of many solo and collaborative projects, shown all around the world.
During the K3 residency 19/20, Maria combined the research in quantum physics and dance, exploring the idea of dance as an elementary force creating and transforming places. In her choreography Space Gives Place, the notion of place as a dance-based event was explored via dance, music, light and space design.
