THE VISIBLE EFFECTS OF FORCE

The impacts of forces are inevitable and constant. Everybody is constantly set in motion, everything is affected. At the same time, the force itself is never visible. It is the signs, traces and remains of it, that is producing visible marks, from which we draw conclusions and imagine the force behind it.
The piece Forerunning (2014) has its focus on the movement between action and non action and the state of readiness it produces, The Visible Effects of Force is a new solo about the actual force. Topp here explores what remains in the body after the impact – the traces, the effect. It is the conclusion and third part of an artistic exploration of the body exposed to different forces.
The trilogy of solos include the pieces The Everyday Practice of Resistance (2012), Forerunning and The Visible Effects of Force. The latter was created in Hamburg in collaboration with Julia Giertz (sound) and Mårten K Axelsson (light design).

Marie Topp

Embodiment of concepts is the core interest Topp spins her productions and choreographies around. The last years she has made three solos, all concerned with the body exposed to different forces. Besides her solo practice she is part of the collective RISK. Topp was selected “Dancer of the year 2015” by CPH Culture for her performance The Visible Effects of Force.
