Rotem Weissman

PRISMA (5+)

When light falls on a prism, it splits into a bright band of colour. One colour becomes something colourful and diverse. The dance performance Prisma transfers this function to people. Because even if we all see the same thing, everyone has their own, different world of imagination. The starting point is three children's books, in which fascinating worlds open up: sometimes imaginative, like the ‘wild guys’, sometimes microscopically small, with a strange appearance, sometimes in metamorphosis, like the ‘very hungry caterpillar’, which becomes a butterfly. The figures, images and stories become movements and merge into a world that is mysterious, humorous, colourful, unexpected and follows no logic.

Rotem Weissman

Rotem Weissman’s choreographies have been shown internationally, including Yellow Poetry at Jerusalem International Dance Week and AltoFest in Italy. Her creation BAUHAUS was awarded second prize at the Jerusalem International Choreography Competition. Residencies and fellowships have taken her to Studio Alta (Czech Republic), Tanz Station and the American-Israeli Cultural Foundation. After her training as a dancer, Rotem Weissman studied choreography at SEAD in Salzburg, where she completed a year as artist in residence after graduation. Rotem Weissman works as a co-choreographer with Ceren Oran (The Urge) and is a member of the nein9 collective.
